After their highly appreciated precedent album Waitecas (Hueso Records, 2012), the band is delighted
to annonce their latest release, wich combines the drone of a hurdy-gurdy with the raw textures of
electric guitar, along with the sounds of some other objects.
With roots in the Australian underground, Chilean post-punk, Parisian musique concrète, and London
experimental music and art scenes, Memo and Georgina from El Gran Chufle (past champions of Tom
Ravenscroft, 6 Music) dip a toe back into collaboration, pullulated with ideas and influences.
Wavefunctions scrutinize the notion of the cost, as a theshold between two territories, both imaginary
and geographical, in perpetual action and reaction. The music of the album extrapolate the audio
recordings from the Pacific cost, made near Tongoy, north of Chile into a an indoor experience,
between two musicians in the city of Folkestone in England.
Digging into the art of the field-recordings, looking for the grail of an illusory audio-vérité, the duo
irrigate their cryptic instrumental music to make a unified sonic mass. The sound of Wavefunctions
appears as a continuum of layers, built from raw acoustic tones and stubborn melodic phrases, the
whole articulated under a low tempo regime coloured by noise-spiritual-feeling.
